Our Founder

Teneshia founded EGAMI Group in 2007 On Purpose. She has accumulated more than a decade of experience in multicultural marketing, project management and inspirational life coaching as a purpose-driven individual.

As CEO, Teneshia has led the agency from a dream concept to a thriving multi-million dollar business, delivering award-winning work for major brands, such as Procter & Gamble, Verizon Wireless, Dasani, Rosa Regale, General Motors, Target, KFC, Major League Baseball, Delta and more. In 2012, Teneshia released her first book, Profit With Purpose: A Marketers Guide to Deliver Purpose-Driven Campaigns to Multicultural Audiences, which earned rave reviews as the first-of-its-kind to be focused on multicultural, purpose-driven marketing.

Teneshia is the recipient of a number of career awards, including the coveted Black Enterprise Rising Star Award, Black Enterprises Forty Under 40, AdColor MVP and The Network Journals Forty Under 40 Award. Shes also been featured in Entrepreneur magazine, Essence magazine and Black Enterprise, along with guest appearances on ABC News and The Steve Harvey Show for her entrepreneurial and purpose-inspired successes.

Mike has enjoyed an illustrious career spanning the last two decades in music, entertainment, marketing, fashion, business development and tourism.

He is driven by integrity and authenticity, which underscore his On Purpose approach to work. These qualities have enabled him to collaborate with some ofthe world’s best-known artists and brands. As the Chief Relationship Officer of EGAMI Group, Mike connects brands to urban and multicultural consumers through culture and community and covets the relationships he’s built and nurtured with clients, influencers, talent and media alike.

Mike’s stellar reputation led to his selection as the Tourism Ambassador to Antigua and Barbuda, where he impacts tourism growth via his industry relationships and expertise in marketing and communications.

Senior Strategist

As a seasoned global consumer brand marketer and communications strategist, Laura is expert in helping companies use creativity and omni-channel strategies to turn consumers into brand champions On Purpose.

Enjoying a more than 25-year career, she has helped shape the great stories brands tell to catapult their products, elevate their position, disrupt the status quo, engage consumers in meaningful ways and grow a business. Whether a Fortune 10 company or start-up, reinventing brands, launching products, cultivating conversations that drive action and delivering unexpected ideas is her passion. In this high-touch, high-tech world, critical to communications and marketing success, and a measurable return on ideas is the right strategy to not just win with audiences, but also, compel them to advocate. From helping clients think differently and take creative risks, Laura relies on strategy to get clients out of their comfort zone, channel creative thinking in new ways and nurture business for growth.

Vice President

Liv is a senior public relations executive and strategist with more than a decade of consumer experience helping brands be On Purpose to effectively reach their targets. Her experience spans various consumer categories, with a special concentration in beauty (both prestige and mass) products, CPG, entertainment, and lifestyle. She has managed communications efforts for global brands, such as Johnson & Johnson, Neutrogena, Bath & Body Works and Procter & Gamble’s with brands including Crest, Tide, Downy, PUR and Duracell.

Liv has a proven track record in successfully developing robust media and influencer programs that deliver on business objectives. With her knowledge of media strategy and engineering strategic partnerships, Liv leads EGAMI Group in client services, counsel, program development and public relations.

LAURA SUTPHEN

President

With more than 30 years of experience building brands, leading social change, and driving business growth, Laura Sutphen is known as a “big idea” person with an instinct for connecting talent and ideas that leads to agency innovation. She’s worked for some of the world’s largest agencies and is also an entrepreneur who founded and led her own agency for more than a decade. Throughout her career, she has been a bias disrupter, with a long track record of allyship and working in and with communities of color.  And as a thought leader in social impact and inclusion, she’s worked with global brands and organizations to architect some of the biggest moments in culture including Walmart, Procter & Gamble, Sephora, Warner Bros., Tapestry, eBay and Unilever.

 

In addition to her agency background, Laura also led communications at Amazon where she reshaped a global team around a united vision, drove alignment of corporate reputation, and launched the Black Business Accelerator. As the President of EGAMI Group, Laura has ownership of all day-to-day agency management with a focus on scaling operations, infrastructure, and capabilities to accelerate the power of multicultural at scale.

Raul Pinto

Chief Financial Officer/ Chief Operation Officers

Raul is a strategic financial advisor with 11 years of global agency experience. Raul prides himself in finding trends in financial numbers to effectively manage a business, drive strategy, allocation of capital, and the management of risk.Raul brings to the agency deep expertise in contract review and negotiations, financial planning and analysis, budget and forecast management, operational management, and financial systems implementation.

As an executive on EGAMI Groups senior leadership team, Raul leads the agency’s business operations and finances

April Boykin-Huchko

HR Director 

April began her HR career within the Advertising/PR industry over 14 years ago, providing HR counsel at both boutique to global agencies. As a results driven HR Leader, April has a proven track record of creating inclusive spaces that thrive, building effective relationships, and developing people strategies to meet business objectives that ultimately drive productivity and keep employees engaged as agency ambassadors. April is dedicated to partnering with leadership to deliver value added services to achieve aligned goals, cultivating an inclusive workforce conducive to collective greatness and igniting professional passions that drive innovation, On Purpose.

CHERYL OVERTON

President

Cheryl Overton is a creative instigator with a passion for brands, an instinct for audience insights and a knack for integrating disruptive solutions that drive awareness and fandom on purpose. With 20 years of progressive in-house, agency and entrepreneurial experience, Cheryl commands a diverse arsenal of marketing communications skills including planning, brand integration, content, promotion, positioning, issues management, experiential, influencer, entertainment, multicultural and purpose. She has counseled brands and influencers seeking visibility, strategic positioning and cultural leverage to tell their stories.
Cheryl has led award-winning campaigns for Procter & Gamble, American Express, Jeep, NIVEA, Unilever, Starbucks and the American Heart Association, to name a few. Prior agency leadership experience includes Zeno Group, SparkPR, PMK|BNC, UniWorld Group, Ogilvy PR and Edelman where she provided senior strategy, creative, business development counsel and relationship management for clients targeting consumer, professional, influencer and multicultural audiences.
Cheryl is the recipient of the Silver Anvil, Gold Sabre, IPRA, PR Week and PRSA Big Apple “Best of the Best” award. Her work has been recognized by the Cannes Lions. She regularly lectures at NYC-area colleges and universities sits on the Board of Directors of two NYC-based youth arts organizations. A travel, fashion, culinary and entertainment hound, Cheryl resides in Brooklyn, NY and is curator of the insta-blog @madshoegram

Parris leads at the intersection of culture, marketing and communications where she builds trusted brands, reputations and businesses people love. Driving growth, strategy, marketing, communications and inclusion initiatives that connect companies and people is just a fraction of Parris’ rich integrated experience.
She launched her career at Sony Music where she set marketing strategies for top recording talent before a passion for connecting entertainment and consumer brands led her agency side. There she climbed the ranks at top shops where her teams’ boundary pushing ideas and executions were recognized with countless awards including multiple Effie and Cannes Lions prizes.Parris previously led global communications around the merger that created one of the largest integrated agencies in the world, while championing agency branding and marketing efforts across North America, Latin America, EMEA, APAC and the Middle East.
Her client experience includes Adidas, American Express, AstraZeneca, IKEA, Kimberly-Clark, Kraft-Heinz, LVMH, Nestle, P&G, Pfizer, The Puerto Rico Tourism Company, Unilever and more.
