McDonald’s Mambo Sauce Launch
In Fall 2023, McDonald’s launched its own Mambo sauce, a flavor long beloved among Black communities in D.C. and Chicago. The challenge? Bringing authenticity without appropriation, and bridging culture rather than borrowing from it.
What we did
EGAMI tapped into the voices that matter – the “Mambo heroes” – local chefs and cultural champions who embody the sauce’s legacy. Together, we co-created a cultural moment with a powerful documentary, dynamic social activations, and a spotlight on these heroes at the iconic Apollo Theater for Black Entrepreneurs Day.

The impact
Over 1,000 earned media placements, 8,000+ social shares, and, most importantly, strengthened community trust. This wasn’t just a sauce launch; it was a movement that celebrated heritage while reimagining what brand impact can be. McDonald’s didn’t just release a product – they embraced the Black community.
